I'm 29, I record a version of "in this life" during a session with my brother Ron. It made me think of telling my story, maybe not flashy and appealing but real and honest. Turning 30 was a personal milestone and I spent a lot of time reflecting on my journey to this point in life. For the first time in a long time I'm considering taking a new project seriously. I start crafting beats for it and...my computer crashes. I'm discouraged, and almost gave up after all these years making music and going "nowhere". I took those beats and started writing, in a few songs this vision is starting to take shape. I have no way to record so I start rocking open mics to share my work. People are connecting with it but, you still cant hear my music anywhere unless its live. One day, I get a package in the mail from my cousin Antoine. It has a laptop in it and the letter reads something like "Use this to create your visions". Gratefully, I do just that and soon this project is more than just a vision. I can achieve this, I'm determined to, there's no giving up now. Soon I'm 32, Savanah asks me what I want for Christmas and like a true emcee its a mic and an interface. After the holiday season passes, I have all the pieces to this strenuous puzzle. Over the summer, in the midst of this hectic trying to get ahead life a lot of us live. I chip away at recording this vision I've been eagerly and patiently wanting to achieve for years. I get some valuable professional touches from the big homie Bizshp Smart to bring it further into finalizing this goal. The last component I need is the artwork to reflect what this means to me. He sends me the art work and, its brilliant.. Today, I'm 33. This is 30
